Traveling with our Seniors to North coast: Tips for smooth sailing.
Traveling with our Seniors to North coast: Tips for smooth sailing.

For me, family always matters. The gathering of the whole family from my 60 years old dad to my youngest 8-month kid, even in Summertime is a bliss.  Although I confess, it is a HANDY bliss.

I never knew that all I am missing is a little extra preparation to ensure a smooth — and a stress-free retreat.

Whenever you’re traveling to sa7el with your elderly, either suffering from physical, mental or any other health condition from diabetes to Chronic heart disease, don’t ever compromise RELAXATION.
Check the below TOP TIPS for a smooth traveling with your loved senior ones

1.    A Call to the Doctor Can never Harm.

  • Ask for a clearance to travel, helpful tips, special medications or supplements to help with anxiety or other behavioral issues that might arise or emergency drugs that are necessary to control any urgent medical problems”

2.    Research Medical Facilities at Your Destination

  •  Make sure you know where the nearest hospitals and care centers are, in case of emergency. CHECK TABIBI IN SA7EL.

3.    Keep the anxiety level Low

  • Maintaining a routine or a predictable schedule is critical to reducing anxiety and stress in a loved one with cognitive impairment or Alzheimer’s. Keeping mealtimes, medication schedules and rest times as consistent as possible — and planning car trips accordingly — will lower the risk of agitation. Travel when your loved one is most likely to do well; Consider the Sundowners’ syndrome for Alzheimer’s patient.

4.    Pack as Lightly as Possible

  • Caring for the elderly is much easier with free hands.

5.    Essential Sa7el elderly toolkit

  • A hat, light sweater, sunscreen, and a travel pillow.
  • Medications (enough supply kept in a secure pillbox ) / Medication schedules
  • contact details for your own doctors and a note on the location of the nearest hospital
  • Pack medical documentation and insurance cards (and photocopies)
  • wearable identification for loved ones with dementia: an ID bracelet (include your care recipient with identification and your emergency contact information,)

6.    Plan a Schedule that Accommodates Your Loved One include Breaks and Downtime in the Schedule

  • On-road trips, plan to take 1 or 2 breaks,. “ Get a restroom break and Get a driving break and get their Legs moving at least every 2 hours”
  • Be realistic about the amount of activity, walking and traveling your loved one is capable of. Keep your plans flexible to accommodate how they are feeling each day
  • Frequent water intake, avoid excessive sweating, avoid being outdoors during high-temperature times of the day,

it’s important to keep in mind that summer temperatures are also linked to an increase in heat stroke in elderly seniors.

7.    If your loved one has Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, you may need to consider some additional precautions and preparations.

Best medical experiences ever ~ Rania

Today my son had an accident resulting in a large deep cut on the back of his head. Dr Radwa came round and was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She phoned the local hospital to arrange the stitches, took us there with her driver, arranged everything and stayed with us whilst my semi hysterical 2.5 year old received a numbing injection and 3 stitches. She absolutely went above and beyond. My son is still asking about the doctor!

Outstanding service. Thank you ~ Jen
