Don't get cold this winter
As we go into the cold days of winter, some of us will start experiencing the common cold symptoms such as coughs and runny nose. Symptoms that might take a long time to go away. But how can you fight them off or prevent them altogether?
The biggest reason behind this is that several infections might go into effect by taking turns. Another reason can be that you start going back to your everyday life way before your body healthy and recovered, which opens you up for more getting sick again.
Three myths about the common cold
1. You can catch a cold if you have wet hair in the cold
A widespread misconception by a lot of people. You generally do not get sick or sicker from the cold. However, the body's immune system can be negatively affected by lowered body temperature. Still, then a prolonged, severe cooling is required, which almost leads to unconsciousness.
2. You only infect others if you have a fever
Being free of fever does not directly mean that you are not infected. Colds are most contagious in the beginning when the disease is least noticeable. Fever often occurs later in the course of the disease, and in some cases, it might not even happen.
3. You Can Cure Your Cold With Home Remedies
It is claimed that to cure a common cold; home remedies such as garlic, onions, ginger, and honey lemon water can cure a common cold; however, none of these have scientific evidence.
The exception is vitamin C. Studies show shortening of the cold in some people who had eaten higher doses of vitamin C for a long time before the cold broke out.
Can you avoid colds altogether?
Most adults have a couple of colds a year. It is difficult to avoid them completely, but you can reduce the risk by having a good immune system. You can achieve this by having a varied diet with fruit and vegetables, exercising moderately, allowing yourself enough sleep and less stress.
It is also essential that you wash your hands regularly, especially before and after meals.
Stress and smoking
Bad habits and coping mechanisms within your lifestyle can make your cold take longer than usual.
Stress is one of those factors, along with prolonged smoking. Both make your ability to resist bacteria and viruses worse.

What patients say about us
This is the first time I have tried Tabibi 247 and I just wanted to express my gratitude to such great service and professional team members. I would inform you that Dr.Sayed was very helpful and informative. He took his time to explain everything which I really appreciate. I am just proud that such an establishment is in Egypt.
One of the best medical experiences ever. Flawless reservation, cheerful staff, professional doctors and a colorful well equipped center. Amazed to have such level of service and care :) Thank you Tabibi 24/7
Today my son had an accident resulting in a large deep cut on the back of his head. Dr Radwa came round and was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She phoned the local hospital to arrange the stitches, took us there with her driver, arranged everything and stayed with us whilst my semi hysterical 2.5 year old received a numbing injection and 3 stitches. She absolutely went above and beyond. My son is still asking about the doctor!
Before Tabibi I used to go to work, leaving my baby at home sick, feeling worried and tense. Now i am more relaxed and happy to be your customer. Being able to reach your doctor at anytime is a blessing. Thank your Tabibi that is worth a million
